28 January 2012 - Southern Cross Country Championships

At Stanmer Park, Brighton. One of the hilliest cross country courses you could find and possibly on the borderline of being classified as a hill race.   It’s a crisp mild day though and with firm underfoot conditions it’s a very challenging but fair test for the close to 3,000 runners who take part across the junior and senior age groups.  Although not every elite runner is present – the likes of Mo Farah and Paula Radcliffe are actually  eligible – it must be a great feeling to be amongst the best long distance runners across the whole Southern half of the country, a population of over 20 million. Of course, amongst the 20 million there are still a few people who don’t actually do cross country running, but the principle still holds
