Travel to Birmingham University for Bud's Run, a one off tribute 5k to help raise funds to combat Parkinson's disease which Bud has very sadly been suffering from for four years. He is well known as a hugely popular and effective guy never mind his fantastic coaching and mentoring prowess. It's a poignant day for everyone and from my angle Bud has been an unmatched motivator and inspirer since I first met him over 10 years ago. 400 people cover the five kms around his long term haunts of the Birmingham Uni campus. The race is started by Paula Radcliffe and as she pays tribute to Bud the one incident she singles out is, typically, one when the chips were very much down as she battled in the ultimately lost cause to take her place in the 2012 Olympics.
